Lantern Pike Walk - April 8th

Posted 9/4/2017

Starting from the Sett Valley Trail Information Centre in Hayfield our party of 8 set off along the Sett Valley Trail to Birch Vale where we joined the Pennine Bridleway and began a steep ascent to Lantern Pike.

Here we decided to take an early lunch break while enjoying the excellent views on this hot and clear day. We then descended to return to the Pennine Bridleway before making a more gentle ascent of Matley Moor.

Another descent followed as we crossed the main Glossop Hayfield road before we made our final ascent, this time of Middle Moor before returning to Hayfield via a gradual descent of the Snake Path. Richly deserved post walk drinks were then taken at the Royal Hotel in Hayfield.

All in all, an excellent walk on a warm and sunny day.

Well done to the eight people who completed this one, especially David Kirk and Liz Davis who chalked up 200 miles season to date on this walk too.
