High Peak Wander - April 2nd

Posted 2/4/2017

After a belated start from High Peak Junction, our walk started with a rather tough ascent of Sheep Pasture Incline and then Middleton Incline of the High Peak Trail to Middleton Top passing Black Rocks and viewing the seat of Sir Richard Arkwright too.

After leaving the High Peak Trail we walked across field paths and crossed a huge quarry before descending into the stunning town of Wirksworth.

As we were all suffering with the effects of the hills and the lovely spring sunshine today, we decided that a refreshment stop was in order at The Black Head before continuing on towards Bolehill, where we incurred an arduous incline up into the village, which tested our groups strength and stamina.

After ascending into Bolehill, we walked on bridleways back towards the High Peak Trail where we joined Sheep Pasture Incline and descended back to High Peak Junction for a well deserved ice cream.

Well done to the 15 people who completed this stunning walk which takes in the delight of the High Peak.

Finally well done to Steve Pennock who became the first person this season to chalk up 200 miles walked, I'm pretty sure it won't be too long before some of our other regular walkers achieve this feat too.
