Wentworth & Scholes Circular Walk - 28th July

Posted 29/7/2019

Starting at the car park in the centre of Wentworth, we headed to the entrance of the Wentworth Woodhouse estate, passing the house (now donned in scaffolding) on the right hand side.

We continued down towards the Dog Kennel pond where ‘Jasper’ decided the aptly name waters suitable to join the ducks for a swim.

We then headed up the other side, walking on the Rotherham Roundwalk path, passing through the woods up to Scholes where we stopped for lunch at the Bay Horse pub.

From there we walked through the pretty village of Scholes and through a field with a friendly Highland cow. Once at the bottom, we headed back up the other side towards the Lodge and Wentworth Garden Centre.

We then walked on the lane to Wentworth Church returning on the main road through Wentworth and back to the car park, finally ending at The Rockingham Arms to quench our thirst having walked 5.62 miles.

Despite the grim forecast we ended with a good attendance of 16 adults, 3 children and 3 dogs and we extend a warm welcome to our newcomer Donna and hope she enjoyed her first walk with us.
