Sheriff Hutton & Mowthorpe Hill Walk - August 19th

Posted 20/8/2017

A party of eight attended this 8.4 miles walk.

Starting from the quaint village of Sheriff Hutton we walked along distinct paths on the Ebor Way before ascending Mowthorpe Hill. From here there were magnificent views of the greater York area and the Howardian Hills.

After a lunch break on the outskirts of Terrington we walked on country lanes to the edge of Mowthorpe Dale to the bridleway known locally as the Centenary Way.

Walking along this path it was necessary to cross a field where a herd of bulls was present, however there was only one of our party who was wearing the latest DVWG regalia, which of course is bright red. It is really quite surprising the speed at which Steve Pennock is still capable of moving at !

Our party returned to Sheriff Hutton on local footpaths for a well earned drink at The Highwayman pub.

It has to be said that this area is well worth some further exploration as there are many path in the area and some great views too.

Well done and thanks to everyone who completed this walk.
